Zoals eenvoudig uit de naam is af te leiden, is kamermuziek muziek die in de intimiteit van een kamer of andere kleine ruimte uitgevoerd kan worden. Tegelijkertijd vallen solo-recitals weg: kamermuziek gaat altijd over samen muziek maken in kleine kring. Bovendien vervalt vocale muziek: dan kom je bij koormuziek of het lied terecht. Heel kort gezegd is kamermuziek dus instrumentale muziek voor twee tot tien musici. Onder kop ‘Diverse kamermuziekensembles’ vindt u dus cd’s met allerlei muziek die hieraan beantwoordt, van strijktrio’s, blaaskkwartetten en pianokwintetten tot het beroemde octet van Mendelssohn en de grote kamermuziekwerken van Spohr. De uitzondering is het strijkkwartet: dit genre hebben we op Muziekweb vanwege haar omvang apart gehouden.
Klezmer en Ladino zijn twee verschillende verschijningsvormen van traditionele Joodse muziek. De diaspora van het Joodse volk heeft ervoor gezorgd dat ook in zijn muzikale tradities verschillende stromingen zijn ontstaan, namelijk klezmer- tegenover ladinomuziek. De dansmuziek klezmer werd gespeeld door Oost-Europese Joden en toont veel overeenkomsten met volksmuziek uit die regio: de dynamiek, tempowisselingen en zigeunerachtige melodieën. Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog vluchtten veel Joden naar de Verenigde Staten. Daar ontstond een nieuw centrum van de klezmer. Het zou nog tot de jaren tachtig duren voordat deze opzwepende muziek zou worden herontdekt in Europa. De Sefardische Joden, die nadat ze van het Iberisch schiereiland waren verjaagd in verschillende landen rond de Mediterraanse zee terecht zijn gekomen, kenden hun eigen muziek, die met de term 'ladino' wordt aangeduid en eveneens staat voor de taal die zij spreken. Dit Ladino is een soort Romaanse tegenhanger van het Jiddisch. Ladino als genre is net zo divers als de landen waarin de Sefardische Joden terecht zijn gekomen. Zo kent het onder andere invloeden uit Marokkaanse, Turkse, Griekse, Spaanse en Balkan muziek.
